Jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh recovered from burglar | Hyderabad News


Hyderabad: Bachupally police apprehended Mohammed Nasar, 34, on charges of burglary and reportedly recovered stolen jewellery worth approximately ₹20 lakh, including 25 tolas of gold and 15 tolas of silver ornaments, from his possession.
Police said Nasar, who runs a sofa repair business, has a history of six property offences, including a murder for gain case in 2013. He was previously detained under the Preventive Detention Act and spent a year in jail.
The latest theft occurred on the night of March 22, when Nasar broke into the residence of a woman at Sarovar Building on Rajeev Gruhakalpa Road. The accused, who was an acquaintance of the woman, targeted her house in her absence. He broke into the residence by unscrewing the door latches and stole the jewellery.
Police arrested Nasar at his shop, NP Royal Furniture in Bowrampet, where he was planning to dispose of the stolen items. The recovered items include gold necklaces, chains, earrings, and silver ornaments.
