Greenery, parks and others are vanishing: Union Minister
He pointed out that greenery is fast vanishing from the capital region as also public places, playgrounds, parks and others for various reasons. Hence, it is important to save such lands for future generations.
Seeking to remind Mr. Revanth Reddy of his earlier promise not to go for auction of government lands, the Union Minister said the aforementioned land parcel, scheduled to be auctioned by the Telangana Government Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), has become home to 734 species of trees, 220 kinds of birds, deer, pythons, star tortoise and othersbesides ancient rock formations.
Even if the land does not come under the forest department it has become a vital lung space for the area with its biodiversity and with concrete jungle in surrounding areas. Any further development will cause great loss to the ecology, he maintained.
Mr. Kishan Reddy was particularly concerned about the endangered species of star tortoises in the region. Allowing more buildings to come up in the region will also be detrimental to the interests of the citizens living nearby and more so, students of the adjacent University of Hyderabad (UoH), he added in the letter.
