Phase III of Devadula project commissioned

Hyderabad: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday inaugurated the phase III pumping station of the Devadula Lift Irrigation Project at Devannapet in Warangal district, marking a key milestone in the state’s irrigation and drinking water efforts.
Accompanied by revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and local MLAs, Uttam reiterated the Congress govt’s commitment to completing all three phases of the project. “This is a crucial step in securing irrigation for farmers and meeting drinking water needs,” he said. “We will not rest until every drop promised under Devadula reaches the fields and homes it was meant for.”
He criticised the previous BRS regime for delays, citing incomplete documentation that stalled approvals. He also revealed that a delegation, including CM Revanth Reddy, had sought central assistance from jal shakti minister CR Patil.
The Devannapet pump house, a critical component of phase III, lifts water from the Godavari via Sammakka-Sarakka barrage. With the latest upgrades, the Dharmasagar reservoir now serves an ayacut of 5,22,522 acres, ensuring improved water access for Telangana’s farmers.
