98 crore sanctioned to develop Suryalanka as Blue Flag beach | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: Bapatla’s Suryalanka beach is set to become a world-class Blue Flag beach with an investment of about 98 crore under central govt’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0, announced Andhra Pradesh tourism minister Kandula Durgesh on Friday. He emphasised that the development will introduce advanced amenities to enhance the beach’s appeal and provide international-standard facilities for tourists.
During his visit to Bapatla district, Durgesh inaugurated a water park in Avidi village. He stated that the coalition govt is prioritising tourism and inviting private investments through the public-private partnership (PPP) model. He also revealed plans to develop the Chirala-Bapatla region into a tourism circuit, ensuring sustainable growth.
Highlighting recent progress, he pointed that Union tourism and culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat gave the approval for 98 crore investment for the development of the beach. The funds will be used for environmental education programmes, sanitation facilities, changing rooms, waste management systems, and other essential infrastructure. He assured that tourism development would align with environmental conservation, creating large-scale employment opportunities in the region.
Durgesh credited the swift approval of funds to the efforts of rural development minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, who made multiple visits to Delhi in order to push for the project.
