Vijayawada: In a timely intervention, Mangalagiri rural police rescued a 19-year-old private degree college student who was attempting suicide by lying on railway tracks near Gaddipadu railway gate late on Thursday night. The incident occurred around 12:30 am when head constable CH Shekhar Babu and constable Sagar Babu of the Mangalagiri rural police station were returning home to Guntur after completing their duty. As they reached the Gaddipadu railway gate, they noticed a young man preparing to lie down on the railway tracks. Acting swiftly, they rushed to the spot, pulled him away from the tracks, and saved his life.TNN
