Hybrid powertrain under consideration:
Interestingly, the 2025 Kia Seltos could be a hybrid way, as the carmaker is evaluating hybrids for the Indian market. The strong hybrid powertrain is considering as an alternative to diesel engines, which will require major and costly upgrades to meet future emission standards. Kia is reportedly planning to electrify its existing 1.2L and 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engines for the Indian market.
The South Korean automaker is already selling strong hybrid vehicles in global markets, featuring a 1.6L hybrid powertrain with AWD (all-wheel drive) system. The new Kia Seltos, Carens MPV and an upcoming sub-4 metre model could be among first beneficiaries of this strong hybrid powertrain in India. The 2025 Kia Seltos will also retain the existing powertrain options including 1.5L petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines, offering 115bhp with 144Nm and 116bhp with 250Nm, respectively.
