No Green Card, No Lawyers

A student on an F1 visa just got hit by the US immigration system. After more than five years in America, they invested in an EB-5 visa, hoping for a green card, but thanks to a USCIS denial, their entire future is in limbo.

Taking to social media, the student shared that they applied for EB-5 in 2019 and filed for adjustment of status (I-485) in 2023. But when their EB-5 petition was rejected, their I-485 was automatically denied too.

That means their Green Card EAD is now worthless, and their OPT also runs out in two months. What is even worse is that their lawyers won’t even give them a straight answer and have now started ghosting the F-1 visa holder.

With the job market and the economy in chaos, finding work without sponsorship is nearly impossible. They’ve appealed, but there’s no telling when or if that will fix things.
