Sahiti Samakhya to honour renowned poet Rasaraju with 'Sahiti Puraskaram' at Ugadi festival in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur

GUNTUR: The renowned literary organisation, Sahiti Samakhya, will present the prestigious “Sahiti Puraskarm” during the Sahiti Vasantotsvam, to be held on the Telugu New Year festival, Ugadi, here on Sunday.
High court judge justice B Krishna Mohan will attend the event as the chief guest. Special chief secretary (health) MT Krishna Babu, district collector S Nagalakshmi, and municipal commissioner Puli Srinivasulu will also be present.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Sahiti Samakhya General Secretary SVS Lakshminarayana said that they would also present the Aatmeeya Puraskaram to renowned Telugu actor Kedar Sankar.
He mentioned that Telugu poet Kavi Yakoob, Dr PV Ram Kumar, Ashtavadhani from IIT Kharagpur, Nallanchakravarthula Sahit, and writer Krishnaveni would participate in the Sahiti Sammelanam along with Rasaraju.
He stated that Rasaraju received numerous awards and rewards during his six-decade-long illustrious career as a writer, lyricist, critic, columnist, and poet. Rasaraju also received international awards from several organisations.
Lakshminarayana noted that Ranginini Satyanarayana Raju, popularly known as Rasaraju, has writings that have helped many complete their PhDs. Rasaraju’s poetry, Rasabharati, earned accolades from several prominent literary personalities. Rasaraju also penned Vedika and Rasakalasam. He was a noted columnist in a Telugu daily.
Lakshminarayana said that Kavi Yakoob is a widely reputed Telugu poet, researcher, and writer. His poems have been translated and published in English as “Arc of Unrest.” He has edited five books and authored three books of literary criticism.
He is the founder of Kavisangamam, a Telugu poetry forum, and Rottamaku Revu Poetryspace Foundation (RRPF). “Kavi Yakoob is an associate professor of Telugu in Hyderabad and a member of the advisory board of Kendra Sahitya Akademi,” said Lakshminarayana.
Dr Yakoob also served as chairman of the Hyderabad Book Fair Society. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Secretary P Ramachandra Raju and others were present.
