Committee discusses plans to advance tourism in NTR district of Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: In a significant step towards district-level progress, the second district review committee (DRC) meeting of NTR district was held at Kondapalli Qilla, promoting the tourism sector. The meeting, chaired by district in-charge minister Satyakumar Yadav, reviewed progress on 113 issues raised in the previous DRC meeting held on Nov 30, 2024.
Key discussions included CCRC cards for tenant farmers, minimum support price for chillies, industrial park development, and infrastructure upgrades such as power supply and irrigation projects. The meeting also addressed pressing civic concerns, including monkey and stray dog problems in Vijayawada, affecting both residents and farmers.
Speaking to the media, Yadav emphasised the district’s alignment with Swarnandhra @ 2047, aiming to enhance per capita income, economic growth, and tourism. He highlighted that NTR district ranks third in per capita income in Andhra Pradesh, with an ambitious target of 4,17,412 for 2025-26. Officials were urged to implement innovative strategies to achieve 15% annual growth across agriculture, industry, and services sectors.
The minister assured that development and welfare schemes will reach beneficiaries without political bias. The P4 policy, set to be unveiled on Ugadi, will encourage govt-private sector collaboration to boost economic progress. Special tourism circuits integrating spiritual and heritage tourism were introduced to attract visitors and create employment opportunities.
NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha announced plans to expand tourism with three-day temple tours, four-day holiday packages, and MSME parks. The Kondapalli Qilla will soon feature a laser show, funded through CSR initiatives. Plans to identify 50-100 acres per constituency for MSME parks are underway, aiming to transform the district into a thriving business hub.
