HYDERABAD: A 56-year-old man who repeatedly raped his minor daughter over six years has been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000.
The XII Additional Sessions Judge, Nampally, T. Anitha, delivered the verdict in the case reported in 2021 and also ordered Rs 5 lakh compensation for the survivor.
According to the police, the convict had two daughters, including the survivor and her younger sister.
In 2015, his wife left for Dubai for work, leaving the two girls in his care.
A few months after she left, he began making physical advances towards the survivor. He threatened her and subjected her to sexual abuse. Out of fear for her life, the girl remained silent, allowing him to continue the assaults.
Despite her pleas, he raped her multiple times at home. When their mother returned in 2021, the survivor finally confided in her. The case was initially registered at Chandrayangutta police station but was later transferred to Santosh Nagar police station following a jurisdictional change. The accused was then arrested.
The police filed a chargesheet in court with all the evidence.
During the trial, the court examined the survivor, her mother, and the younger sister, who witnessed the crime. It also reviewed the statements of panch witnesses, the accused’s confession, and the crime scene examination before pronouncing him guilty.
