Visakhapatnam: Temperatures surged across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, with several locations recording maximum temperatures above 40°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Kurnool topped the charts with a sweltering 42°C, followed closely by Nandyal at 41.9°C, Anantapur at 41.1°C, and Kadapa at 40.2°C. Tirupati registered 40.1°C, while Tuni and Nellore each recorded 40°C. Other notable temperatures included Kavali and Nandigama at 39.6°C, Amaravati at 39.4°C, and Jangamaheswara Puram at 39.2°C. In Visakhapatnam, the Airport locality recorded a maximum temperature of 38°C.
The IMD has forecast hot and humid weather conditions for parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, March 30. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain 2°C to 4°C above normal across coastal and Rayalaseema districts.
Starting March 31, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are predicted at isolated locations in coastal Andhra Pradesh, with this weather pattern expected to continue until April 2. A slight drop in maximum temperatures is anticipated during this period, offering some relief from the current heatwave conditions.
