Rashford & four Man Utd stars ‘fighting’ for their futures in the final stretch

Ahead of what should be a pivotal summer for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford isn’t the only one expected to leave Carrington for good.

The 27-year-old was already sent packing in January after being reduced to an exile at Ruben Amorim’s court. After weeks of speculation, he ended up signing for Aston Villa on loan with an option to buy for €40 million.

While it remains to be seen if the Villains will exercise this clause, one thing is clear, Rashford’s future will definitely lie away from Old Trafford as long as the Portuguese manager is around.

Therefore, The Mirror names the England international amongst 13 Premier League stars who are left ‘sweating’ on their futures ahead of the summer transfer campaign. These players must deliver the goods in the final months of the season to either convince their current clubs to retain their services, or attract new suitors.

Unsurprisingly, Man Utd had the lion’s share, with four players joining Rashford on the list. The source expects these players to fight for their futures as INEOS are planning to ring ‘big changes’ in the summer, as they aim to provide Amorim with a squad suitable for his tactical choices.

Similar to Rashford, Antony already walked away from Carrington in January, joining Real Betis on loan. The Brazilian winger enjoyed a thrilling start to his Andalusian experience, but with no purchase clause in his contract, his future remains shrouded in mystery.

The report also names Joshua Zirkzee who, despite establishing himself as a crowd favourite at Old Trafford, hasn’t been delivering the goals to justify his £37m transfer from Bologna.

Moreover, Andre Onana has been a major conundrum at the club since his arrival in 2023. The Cameroonian goalkeeper is reportedly ‘determined’ to stay, but his recurring howlers are prompting the club to search for a replacement.

Finally, Mason Mount was considered one of the most promising players of his generation a few years back, but his early exploits at Chelsea have become a distant memory as his recent campaigns have been impeded by recurring injury problems.

Nevertheless, Amorim had previously expressed his admiration for the attacking midfielder, so he can still salvage his Old Trafford future by making a swift comeback and proving his worth before the end of the season.
