1,700 Tidco houses handed over to beneficiaries in Machilipatnam

Vijayawada: Excise minister and Machilipatnam MLA Kollu Ravindra, along with APSRTC chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao, handed over 1,700 apartments to beneficiaries at the AP Tidco colony in Gau Sangham, Machilipatnam, on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravindra said that during TDP govt’s tenure from 2014 to 2019, G+3 housing complexes were constructed for the houseless poor in municipal areas, with around 6,400 housing units sanctioned for the Machilipatnam constituency.
“Out of the 6,500 sanctioned houses, govt took up the construction of 4,000 houses, which were later halted by the ousted YSRCP govt. Of these, 2,300 houses were completed, and today, 1,700 houses, along with their documents, were handed over to the beneficiaries as Ugadi gift,” Ravindra stated.
He further mentioned that construction of another 1,800 houses is at various stages and will be completed soon before being handed over to the respective beneficiaries. He added that there are 4,200 eligible beneficiaries who were allotted houses through a lottery draw, and assured that govt will construct houses for the remaining eligible beneficiaries in Machilipatnam.
The minister also announced that govt will allot three cents of land and undertake construction of houses at a cost of Rs 3 lakh, with an additional financial assistance of Rs 50,000 for SC and ST beneficiaries. Meanwhile, beneficiaries who were allotted one cent of land have already begun constructing houses at their designated sites.
