Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has appointed former high court judge Justice Upmaka Durga Prasad Rao as the chairman of a new four-member high power committee (HPC). The committee will examine and recommend the establishment of new medical, dental, and nursing colleges in the state.
The other members of the HPC include former NIMS professor Dr. Vemuru Sudhakar Prasad, NRI Medical College’s Head of Surgery Dr. NSB Parimala, and Dr. Raghu Boddepalli, an MD and dentist from Visakhapatnam. The committee has a term of three years.
The HPC will review applications for setting up new medical, dental, and nursing colleges, ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is in place before recommending the issuance of Essentiality Certificates (EC) by the govt.
