BHPian VictorCharlie recently shared this with other enthusiasts: PPF and Cooling Film Installation on My Brand-New Toyota Fortuner Sigma 4 AT – A Game-Changer! As a car enthusiast, I take immense pride in maintaining my vehicles in pristine condition. My previous experience with my XUV700 AX7L AT D, where a deep scratch appeared within the first month, was a painful reminder of how vulnerable a new car is. This time, with my brand-new Toyota Fortuner Sigma 4 Diesel Automatic, I wasn’t taking any chances-I decided to go for a full-body Paint Protection Film (PPF) right from day one. Choosing the Right PPF: With so many detailing studios and brands offering PPF, I embarked on a rigorous search in Bangalore. My primary contenders were 3M and Garware, given their strong brand reputation. After trying 3M last time around, I expolred Garware, a homegrown Indian brand that has recently entered the PPF segment with dedicated detailing studios. Meeting the Experts – Advanced Automotive Professionals (Garware Studio, HSR Layout): I reached out to Avinash, the owner of Advanced Automotive Professionals – Garware Studio in HSR Layout. From our very first conversation, I was impressed by his in-depth knowledge, attention to detail, and passion for automotive care. Unlike sales-driven pitches, his approach was consultative-he explained the nuances of PPF, its durability, and how Garware’s product lineup competes with international brands. That confidence convinced me to go with Garware Titanium PPF, their top-of-the-line offering with a lifetime warranty. Since my Fortuner is in Super White, I was particularly concerned about yellowing over time, a common issue with PPF films. Avinash reassured me that Garware’s warranty covers yellowing, which gave me peace of mind. The brand also offers Premium (8-year warranty) and Plus (5-year warranty) variants, but I was determined to get only the best for my beast! A surprising fact that further sealed the deal? Garware PPF is used on Indian Air Force fighter jets! If it’s good enough for a supersonic jet, it’s more than capable of protecting my Fortuner on Indian roads. Sun Film Installation – Staying Cool & Legal: With the PPF decision made, I also wanted to install heat-rejecting sun film, especially given the scorching summers in Bangalore. Avinash took the time to explain various options while ensuring compliance with Central Motor Vehicle Act with more than 70% VLT (Visual Light Transmission) for the windshield and more than 50% VLT for sides and rear as per Rule 100 of CMVR Act, 2019. The Sun film carries a QR code to be identified through traffic AI cameras so that it can be exempted as CMVR compliant safety glazing. I chose Garware Ice cool elite with 69% VLT for sides and rear and with 82% VLT for windshield. Garware, after the nationwide ban on sun films, had taken the legal route and secured an official exemption for specific specifications, making it one of the few legally allowed sun films in India. I opted for Garware Ice, which offers an optimal balance of visibility, heat rejection, and legality. Final Verdict – A Worthwhile Investment The installation process was meticulous, and the results exceeded my expectations. The PPF application was seamless, with precise edges and excellent clarity. The sun film significantly reduced cabin heat, making a noticeable difference in comfort. Choosing Garware Titanium PPF and Garware Ice Sun Film for my Toyota Fortuner Sigma 4 D AT turned out to be one of the best investments for my vehicle’s protection and comfort. The total cost for safety glazing and PPF was a palatable INR 140,000. If you’re in Bangalore and looking for high-quality detailing work, I highly recommend Advanced Automotive Professionals in HSR Layout. If you’re considering PPF or sun film for your car and have any questions, feel free to ask-I’d be happy to share my feedback. Check out BHPian comments for more insights and information.
