Suryapet: Marking the Ugadi day celebrations, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday launched the distribution of fine rice through ration shops under the Public Distribution Scheme at Huzurnagar in Suryapet district.
Speaking at the event, he emphasized that the scheme was intended to provide high-quality rice, typically consumed by the wealthy, to the State’s underprivileged population.
He expressed his happiness in launching the initiative as part of the Ugadi celebrations. Under the scheme, eligible ration cardholders will receive 6 kilograms of subsidized fine rice per person. The fine rice distribution initiative was historic and the future governments must continue, he stressed.
Revanth Reddy later handed over a cheque for Rs 26 crore to women’s self-help groups.
Assembly Speaker G Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, and Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, among others were present.
