Vijayawada: The Vishwavasu Nama Satswara Ugadi was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm across Andhra Pradesh, with thousands of devotees flocking to temples to mark the Telugu New Year.
In Vijayawada, the Kanakadurga Temple commenced its Vasantha Navratri celebrations, which will continue for nine days with special pujas and floral offerings to Goddess Kanakadurga. Since early morning, long queues of devotees lined up for darshan, prompting temple authorities to arrange special queues to manage the rush. A special Asthanam program was conducted as part of the celebrations.
At Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam‘s Venkatapalem temple in Amaravati, devotees thronged to offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara, with darshan taking up to two hours due to the large crowds. Many temples across the state distributed Ugadi prasadam, including traditional Ugadi chutney, to devotees.
In the evening, Vedic scholars recited the Almanac (Panchanga Sravanam) and predicted the year’s astrological outcomes for various zodiac signs.
Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu attended the Ugadi celebrations at Swarna Bharat Trust in Atkur, organised by former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The event featured a prophecy session led by Garikapati Narasimha Rao, along with special poetic tributes and awards for distinguished artists.
