The price of raw mangoes, a key ingredient of Ugadi pachchadi, is higher this year, according to the sellers. Vendors who used to sell six raw mangoes for ₹100, are now selling four of them at the same price. The Ugadi festival marking the Telugu new year will be celebrated on Sunday (March 30, 2025)
Mahesh, a vendor in Badichowdi of Hyderabad said on Saturday (March 29, 2025) that he gets the unripe fruit from Choutuppal and the supply – which begins from January- has been less this season. Vendors in other parts of the city too quoted around the same price.

The city receives eight to nine varieties of mangoes. Of them, Himayat variety at ₹150 to ₹200 is the highest, said Lokini Srinivas, Selection Grade Secretary, Agriculture Market committee, Gaddiannaram.

The fruit is received from farms in erstwhile Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Shadnagar, Jangaon, Khammam and some districts in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
