Drove from Bengaluru to Mysore in my Maruti Suzuki Jimny: My Experience

On the occasion of a long weekend, I took my Maruti Suzuki Jimny to Mysore to meet a friend. Mysore as a town is really like Malgudi. What a lovely sleepy town but with such excellent infrastructure where everything just works

Bhpian shankar.balan recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I wanted to meet my friend in Mysore so I took the Jimny and went at 645 am.

The Nice road had a long tailback at the toll entry and exit where it joins the main Mysore Road but the traffic was well disciplined and I must appreciate this.

Really happy that so many folks are off on a small holiday and using their cars and the good roads we now have.

Rewind to 2000-2005 time range and there were very few folks heading out like this. Now 20 -25 years later it is almost a mass movement.

The one thing I observed at the NICE toll was two kids half out of their car sunroof playing Pistols. Now this is one thing that needs to be curbed completely. Its a very bad trend.

Anyway long story short, an excellent drive cruising at 80-95kmph range got me to this lovely restaurant called SPR Veg inside of Mysore at 0930. Met my pal who had come in from Coorg. He said the traffic towards Coorg even at 830am was significantly high.

Anyway we had a lovely breakfast at SPR. Loafed about a bit. Met a couple more folks and enjoyed driving about.

Mysore as a town is really like Malgudi. What a lovely sleepy town but with such excellent infrastructure where everything just works.

Then by 1-1.15 pm I left and came back to Bangalore. Uneventful drive back. Traffic was sparse on the way back. Hot day. Felt a bit drowsy so splashed some water from my water bottle and used a wet wipe. Back in Bangalore at 4 pm.

A nice 340kms run done. Car felt good. Enjoyed myself overall.

(The Hosur Road was jam packed today though. That was not nice at all..)

However, I do really love these short haul solo drives. It gives my cars a run and gives me some essential me time too.
