The condition of Bollywood is not the same as it used to be a few years ago. Audience preferences have changed, and they are not interested in watching certain films, despite that they feature their favorite superstars.
The three big superstars are also having their problems. Aamir Khan keeps on delaying his films and the results eventually turn out to be underwhelming in the end. Apart from that, there are no announcements or official updates to keep the buzz alive.

Salman Khan is looking less energetic and his characters are looking the same in all the films, without any kind of change. Although Shah Rukh Khan has been able to pull crowds, his films take almost two years.
Then there is Akshay Kumar, who has several films in his hands, but their fate at the box office remains unknown for now. Ajay Devgn has the potential to make a big impact, but he is taking the safe path instead of opting for a risk.

In such a situation, most of the big films have been grabbed by Ranbir Kapoor, and it looks like he is the only one who has kept some hope alive.
After Animal, Ranbir will be appearing in Ramayana, following which he has many more big projects in his hand, including Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Most of them have the potential to become blockbusters.

The other superstars mentioned before Ranbir still have the time to change their choices and start connecting with the audience like Ranbir.
Scripts have been the biggest problem for these superstars and the right time has come for the producers to give a chance to new people instead of depending on the usual choices like they have done for the last 10-20 years.
Box office numbers are very important nowadays, and it is bad that the biggest superstars are failing to bring enough profits.
Apart from choosing the best scripts, the superstars also need to prefer good content at the same time by getting out of their comfort zone and trying something new.
