Hanamakonda: Tension escalated on the Kakatiya University campus on Tuesday after police tried to thwart attempts of different student unions from taking out a ‘funeral’ rally of the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to protest against the Government’s move to auction 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli in Hyderabad.
Students owing allegiance to the BRSV, PDSU and AISF took out a rally up to the University gate, where the police foiled their attempts to burn an effigy. The students then squatted on the road, raising slogans and arguing with the police.
The BRSV Kakatiya University in charge, Jetti Rajendar said the students’ agitation would further be intensified if the Government did not drop the idea of auctioning 400 acres of land on the University of Hyderabad in Kancha Gachibowli.
