Vijayawada: A tragic incident unfolded at Ramapuram beach in Bapatla district, where a 27-year-old man drowned due to high tides, while two others were rescued by the police.
Chukka Vamsi and Palaparti Rajesh, residents of Nehru Colony in Parchur mandal, were swept away by sudden high waves around 3:30 pm on Wednesday. Onlookers and marine police acted swiftly, rescuing both men from the water. However, Vamsi remained unresponsive and was rushed to Chirala area hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Rajesh regained consciousness after being rescued.
In a separate incident at the same beach, Rahatulla from Pasumarthi village in Palnadu district was caught in the waves but was successfully rescued by marine police.
