Leopard attacks on the rise in Mahabubnagar district, buffalo killed on Tuesday night-Telangana Today

Leopard scare grips villagers around Telangana’s Mahabubnagar

Mahabubnagar: In yet another instance of a leopard attack reported from Marikal mandal of Narayanpet district, a buffalo was killed by a leopard in madhavaram village on Tuesday night.

Reports said the buffalo owned by a farmer Kuruva Venkatesh was tied to a pole and its caracass was found on Wednesday morning, sending panic waves among villagers.


Leopard attacks have been happening with regularity in Marikal mandal. On January 29, several goats were killed by a leopard in Jinnaram village and against on February 3, a buffalo owned by Golla Narsimulu was attacked and killed in Pusalapadu village. On March 15, another buffalo was killed in Dhanwada.

Panicked villagers are demanding that the forest department officials snare the leopard immediately in view of the scare that enveloped the surrounding villages. Forest officials advised the villagers to have the cattle tied to poles near their residences and warned the people not to harm the leopard.
