
Priyanka Chopra’s Citadel is still shaken by the setbacks as Season 2 has been delayed until spring 2026, with eyebrows being raised over whether it was appropriate to greenlight a sequel after the poor performance of the first season.
Amazon MGM is said to be unhappy with what they have seen so far, which has led to the delay of not only the second season but also all spin-offs related to it.

Although the initial season was one of the most expensive television productions with a budget of around $300 million, it got mixed reactions and allegedly cost Amazon a staggering loss of $250 million.
This loss has caused eyebrows to be raised over how such a huge failure would be followed by approval for a second season. The series, in which Chopra plays a co-lead with Richard Madden, was revived despite receiving negative reception and company CEO Andy Jassy requested a budget report on the kind of projects.

Season 2 was wrapped up on filming in late November 2024, and although hopes had been high for its release, the current circumstances leave one questioning the future of the Citadel franchise.
With issues of creativity and money left hanging in the air, fans wonder if this bold undertaking can pick itself up after its rocky start.
