Kerala farmers admire AP’s natural farming methods

Vijayawada: A delegation of farmers from Kerala has expressed satisfaction with the natural farming techniques implemented by the Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) during their field visit to Guntur district on Thursday.

District project manager Rajakumari, thematic lead Srinivasu and natural resource officer Humayun guided the Kerala contingent through various demonstration sites, showcasing sustainable agricultural practices. Thursday is the second day of the Kerala team’s tour.

The delegation first visited Srinivas Reddy’s farm in Nuthakki village in Mangalagiri mandal, where they observed A-grade banana cultivation alongside intercropping methods. APCNF officials provided detailed explanations about the scientific principles underlying natural farming techniques. Rajakumari and Srinivasulu answered the visitors’ questions.

Further, the group examined Banti and Ratoon variety banana crops cultivated by tenant farmer Mallikarjuna. Group members directly engaged with the farmer about investment costs, cultivation methods, and income generation in natural farming systems.

Later in the day, Kerala farmers visited Davuluripalem village in Kollipara mandal, where they learned about the health and nutrition approaches within natural farming practices. They witnessed the significant role women self-help groups play in advancing sustainable agriculture.

The tour concluded with a visit to farmer Vasantha’s turmeric A-grade model farm and nutri-garden, which further impressed the delegation.
