Now, get 47 diagnostic tests at your doorsteps

Vijayawada: In a first-of-its-kind health initiative in the country, the NDA alliance govt in state has decided to conduct 47 types of confirmatory diagnostic tests at the doorsteps of the people under re-designed Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) services, popularly known as 104 services, as a part of new tender that has been finalised on Wednesday.
For this purpose, govt has identified a new service provider for operating the 108 and 104 emergency services withdrawing the present operator wherein the new operator will equip the 904 MMU vehicles with a a semi-automatic biochemistry analyzer, CBC machine 3 PART analyzer, microscope and incubator besides providing a lab technician each, in all the 904 vehicles. A consortium led by Bhavya Health Services Pvt. Ltd with SRIT India Private limited as partner has been identified as the new 104 and 108 emergency services operator through tendering.
State govt said a wide range of diagnostic tests are aimed at detailed profiling of the health condition of the people of the state and generation of electronic health records (EHR) which will in turn help in assessing the present and future disease burden in the state, enabling govt to undertake necessary interventions. The confirmatory diagnostic tests to be done include; 20 tests for all beneficiaries for comprehensive assessment like blood glucose test, complete blood picture, renal function tests, liver function tests, complete lipid profile, urine analysis, arterial blood gas, among others which help in health profiling and estimation of disease burden.
Besides, another 27 tests will be done which are disease specific. The new service provider has agreed to do the common 20 tests at a cost of 195 per person and other disease specific tests also will be charged very reasonably compared to market rates.
A total of about 35 persons will accordingly be screened by each MMU vehicle per day. The confirmatory diagnostic testing will be taken up on a pilot basis to check the reliability of data generated through MMUs before extending across the state, the govt said.
