Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President B. Mahesh Kumar Goud launched a scathing attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing it of orchestrating large-scale land scams and causing “economic destruction” during its decade-long tenure.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Thursday (April 3, 2025) , Mr. Goud asked whether the BRS was ready for a debate on the destruction caused to Telangana by selling lands. He vowed to hold the BRS accountable while dismissing BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao’s claims of coming back to power in Telangana.

Mr. Goud alleged that the BRS leaders, particularly KTR, systematically transferred prime government lands around Hyderabad to party cronies at throwaway prices. “The BRS regime’s 10-year rule was marked by land loot and not governance. They treated public assets like their personal property to be given away to their near and dear ones,” he charged.

The TPCC chief alleged that the BRS was thrown out of the State for looting Telangana and destroying its economic fabric. “KTR is dreaming of coming back to power but the party would be wiped out from the State’s political map by the next elections.”

Mr. Goud also accused the BRS and the BJP of collaborating to obstruct the government’s development initiatives. “Both the parties are working together to stall developmental activities and the State’s progress,” he alleged and cautioned people to be aware of their “divisive tactics.”

The TPCC chief reiterated that the 400-acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli, abutting University of Hyderabadrightfully belongs to the government. He said the Congress saved the lands from IMG Bharatha, by fighting the case in the Supreme Court. The land was gifted to IMG Bharata by the then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and it was the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy who fought legally and reclaimed it for the public.
