The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) officials conducted an inspection of 20 skin, hair, and aesthetic clinics across Kukatpally, Miyapur, and Kondapur in Hyderabad on Thursday, April 3, uncovering a widespread practice of unqualified individuals running these establishments.

According to Dr. G Srinivas, Vice-Chairman of TGMC, the inspection found that multiple clinics, including Doctors Dental Skin & Hair Clinic, Star Skin Clinic, Anoos Clinic, Lexus Skin Clinic, and Glance, were operating without qualified dermatologists. VCare, with branches in both Miyapur and Kukatpally, was found to have dentists providing consultations and performing procedures related to skin and hair diseases, including laser treatments and chemical peels.

The TGMC officials also flagged ALC Hair Transplantation and several other clinics for similar violations. Dr. Srinivas highlighted that medical procedures such as hair transplantation, peeling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, and laser therapy should only be conducted by professionals with MBBS, MD Dermatology, or MCh Plastic Surgery qualifications. However, the inspection revealed that these procedures were being carried out by unqualified individuals.

Cases will be registered against all the unqualified medical practitioners under Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, said Dr G Srinivas.
