Hyderabad: A 55-year-old man jumped from the second floor of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Thursday morning in a bid to end life. The man, identified as Hanumandla Narayana, was critically injured in the incident.
According to police officials, the incident took place at around 10:50 am in the corridor connecting the emergency and speciality blocks. A resident of Bellampalli in Mancherial district, Narayana, was at the hospital as his son was undergoing treatment.
“Narayana was immediately shifted to the red triage section. He is currently intubated and is on ventilator support. He is receiving conservative management for a severe head injury,” shared Dr Charan Raj.
NIMS authorities reported the matter to the police officials. “His dependence on alcohol and withdrawal attempts are possible factors behind the extreme step,” said Bandari Shobhan, SHO, Punjagutta.
