I have been used to diesel SUVs since 2016 and probably never even thought of owning a petrol sedan again just because of our country’s ever-increasing petrol cost. Earlier this month, on a YouTube channel, I came across a Renault Scala RXL petrol variant with a used car dealer near my location in Bangalore. This was a December 2012 model with 3 owners, Pearl White color with 76396 km on the odometer.
The vehicle, to be frank, may have been abused by the first owner with 3 instances of body tinkering and painting work, these were poorly executed. Later, this vehicle was bought by another person, who was the 3rd owner. He stays in JP Nagar, and he became a good friend during my buying exercise.
I must thank this person, Mr. Shrikanth Gothe, who shared all his experience with this vehicle and his positive feedback helped me to buy the car without any second thoughts. He had done his part to keep the vehicle in good condition compared to the first owner. Thus, this vehicle entered my life on March 18, 2025, as my 13th car.
What were the immediate service requirements?
- AC Gas filling
- Tyres replacement
- Battery replacement
I will share my service experience after buying this vehicle to replace the critical parts and refurbish the vehicle to the best of my knowledge. A word of caution to any car buyer: “Never neglect the criticality of mandatory replacements and later crib about not getting spares or blaming the OEM for high service costs.” Ultimately, you may lose lakhs under the pretext of saving thousands.
