The Central Administrative Tribunal-Hyderaad dismissed the petition filed by senior IAS officer A. Vani Prasad seeking a direction to allot her to Telangana cadre.
The officer was left with two years of service for retirement. The Department of Personnel and Training of the Union government had recently allotted her to Andhra Pradesh cadre along with some other officers as part of the distribution of All India Service officers in the backdrop of creating separate Telangana State from the unified State of Andhra Pradesh.
Challenging this order, the IAS officer moved the CAT-Hyderabad seeking a direction to allocate her to Telangana cadre. She contended that she spent her childhood in Hyderabad and studied in the same city. However, her birthplace was Guntur of AP. The Bench observed that the adjustment of officers in public interest and an officer should follow the allocation order.
