
It’s official. “Coolie,” starring superstar Rajinikanth, has announced its release date as August 14. The film will arrive in theaters in five languages—Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—coinciding with the long Independence Day weekend.
Today, the production house announced that “Deva Varraaru” (Deva is coming) on August 14. Rajinikanth plays the character Deva.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the hotshot Tamil filmmaker who has delivered blockbusters like “Khaidi” and “Vikram,” has finished filming and is set to begin his work on postproduction. With ample time for post-production, he has locked August 14 as its release date.
“Coolie” is not only the most-awaited pan-Indian biggie from the Tamil film industry, but it also boasts a huge ensemble cast that includes Akkineni Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan in other main roles. Touted to be a different action thriller set in the backdrop of the smuggling world, “Coolie” has the potential to rewrite box office records.

There is also a rumor that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan appears in a key role, but the makers have not yet officially announced it.
