A crucial meeting of the selection committee for the Lokayukta and Upa Lokayukta was held at the Secretariat on Saturday, attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad and Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy among others.

However, Leader of the Opposition and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao did not attend the meeting though he was informed about it officially. The committee will forward its recommendations to the Governor who will issue the orders. Meetings for the constitution of the State Human Rights Commission and the Information Commission were also held.

While the Chief Minister is the Chairman of the selection committees, the Leader of the Opposition is also a key member of the committee. Despite Mr. KCR’s absence, the government is said to have decided to send the names to the Governor.
