Telangana gears up for Miss World contest, cultural tour

WARANGAL: Telangana tourism managing director Prakash Reddy and district collector P. Praveenya chaired a review meeting on Saturday at the Haritha Kakatiya Hotel to finalise logistics and arrangements for hosting the 72nd Miss World competition. The event, scheduled to take place from May 6 to May 31, will see beauty contest participants from 144 countries compete for the coveted title.

During the meeting, Prakash Reddy outlined a series of cultural programmes and activities planned for the contestants. “The event will not only highlight the beauty of our contestants but also showcase the rich culture and heritage of Telangana,” he said.

As part of their tour, the international delegates will visit iconic landmarks such as Nagarjunasagar, Buddha Vana, Ramappa Temple in Warangal, and Yadagirigutta. In addition, the beauty queens are set to arrive on May 14 at 11.30 am at the Haritha Kakatiya Hotel, followed by an organised visit to Kaloji Kala Kshetram and a traditional Bathukamma dance reception, giving them a vibrant taste of local traditions.

Officials from various departments are collaborating closely to ensure seamless operations, particularly in Warangal, where the focus is on facilitating visits to both Kaloji Kala Kshetram and the Ramappa Temple. The meticulous planning aims to present Telangana as a state rich in cultural treasures and ready to welcome a global audience.
