Nine years after Assistant Police Inspector Ashwini Bidre-Gore went missing, the court has finally given its verdict.

But justice came too late. The delay shows how poorly the police system works. Especially when one of their own is involved. Kurundkar was even given the President’s Medal for bravery in 2017, even though he was already an accused in this case.
The question remains to be answered, how can the system reward someone without checking their background properly?

Worse, the police did not even file a murder case for a whole year. During that time, important clues could have been lost.
The judge strongly criticised the delay and said the officers who handled the case badly should be punished. The court called this a “rarest of rare” case. Not just because of the brutal crime, but also because of how careless the system was.

Even after strong evidence like Google Maps tracking was shown, Kurundkar showed no regret. One of his helpers fainted after the verdict, but it cannot compare to how the system ignored justice for so long.
While justice was finally served, it came very late. And when the delay is caused by the very people meant to protect us, it feels like betrayal.
