Rachakond Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu Inaugurated 860 CCTV Cameras in LB Nagar Zone on Saturday.
Of these, 380 cameras have been installed across 14 residential colonies and four villages under a community initiative, funded at a cost of ₹79.32 lakh, including a two-year annual maintenance contract.
The remaining 480 cameras were installed in 119 vulnerable temples as part of a special drive.
“The newly deployed cameras are integrated into the Command and Control Centre, where a dedicated team will monitor the feed round the clock. This initiative brings the total number of CCTV cameras in the LB Nagar Zone to 6,087, in addition to 71,693 Nenusaitham cameras, all of which are geo-tagged,” said the Commissioner.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Sudheer Babu emphasised the importance of CCTV surveillance in modern policing.
“These cameras are crucial in enhancing security and deterring criminal activity. They play a vital role in crime detection, investigation, and analysis,” he said, adding that the Rachakonda Police have successfully solved several sensational cases with the help of CCTV footage.
He also announced that another 315 community CCTV cameras worth ₹1.56 crore will be inaugurated in the next 15 days using MP and MLC constituency funds. This will bring the total number of new cameras added in the LB Nagar Zone alone to 1,200.
Senior police officials including DCP (Crimes) V. Aravind Babu, DCP (SB) Narsimha Reddy, DCP (Traffic) V. Srinivasulu, ACPs J. Narendar Goud (IT Cell), Krishnaiah (LB Nagar), Kasi Reddy (Vanasthalipuram), and SHOs of the LB Nagar Zone attended the event.
