The Siddiamber Bazar mosque and a nearby dargah have been covered with cloth as usual in view of the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra.
Last year’s procession was marred in controversy over BJP leader Kompella Madhavi Latha’s arrow gesture towards the Siddiamber Bazar mosque.
C V Anand, Commissioner of Police, reviewed security arrangements in detail and gave specific instructions on Friday in light of the route inspection done on Thursday along with Sri Ramanavami Utsav committees and other officers.
He suggested that special surveillance be set up at the intersection where the main procession and smaller processions connect. It was also suggested that special additional forces be deployed in problematic areas around religious places and that continuous surveillance be maintained.
As a precautionary measure, all officers and staff, all zonal control room officers, and Special Branch officers in the city should be alert, the police commissioner said, adding that special attention must also be paid to pickpockets and chain snatchers.
