Thousands attend Rama Navami fete in Nizamabad, Kamareddy

NIZAMABAD/KAMAREDDY: Devotees across Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts gathered in large numbers on Sunday to celebrate Sri Rama Navami with grand religious fervour. Numerous temples were festively decorated with flowers as worshippers flocked to witness the celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.

Key temples in Nizamabad — including Quilla Raghunatha temple, Subhashnagar Ramalayam, Pedda Ram Mandir, Nyalkal Road Kodanda Ramalayam, Saibaba Mandirs at Hamalwadi and Madhavanagar, and the Abhayanjaneya temple on Armoor Road — saw a massive influx of devotees participating in elaborate rituals. In Dichpally, the centuries-old Quilla Ramalayam hosted the celestial wedding, with Nizamabad Rural MLA R. Bhupathi Reddy and his family in attendance.

Festivities also took place at other prominent sites such as Indalwai Ramalayam, which uniquely showcased only the idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, and at Shakkarnagar Ramalayam in Bodhan, Kodanda Ramalayam in Pochampad, and Siddulagutta Ramalayam in Armoor. Devotional ceremonies, including Suprabhatam, Abhisekham, Dolaharanam, Edurukolu, Pallaki seva, and the Kalyana Mahotsvam, were performed with deep reverence.

In a historic first, a transgender couple conducted their wedding ritual at Quilla Raghunatha temple, highlighting the inclusive spirit of the celebrations. Prominent MLAs from across the region — including Nizamabad Rural MLA R. Bhupathi Reddy, Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Balkonda MLA V. Prashanth Reddy, and Jukkal MLA Thota Laxmikanth Rao — also participated in the celestial wedding ceremonies within their constituencies.

Traditional delicacies such as vadapappu and panakam were distributed to devotees, and annadanam programmes at all Ram temples.
