Armyman runs pillar to post for probe into violence claims | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A 41-year-old serving as Naib Subedar in the Indian Army is running from pillar to post, seeking justice against his wife. Initially, after failing to receive a response from the police, the Naib Subedar approached the court, which directed the police to register a case. His wife is now facing 19 different charges under IPC.
The complainant has been serving in the Army since 2002. After marrying the woman, currently a home guard in the Hyderabad police, he discovered that she was already pregnant.
He claimed that, based on a false complaint made against him to the Army authorities, the Army had allowed her to receive 10% of his monthly pay as maintenance. She also filed a domestic violence case against him. However, when he exposed her actions and tried to file a complaint, the police initially refused to accept his petition. He then approached a lower court, which directed the Panjagutta police to register a case against his estranged wife.
FIR registered in Feb ’25
After the FIR was registered in February 2025, they wrote to the Army authorities for information regarding the matter, as well as to the Telangana home guards wing to confirm the woman’s employment status.
“Replies from both authorities are awaited. Other evidence is also being collected. Based on findings, the investigation will proceed,” said a Panjagutta police official.
The complainant, originally from Tamil Nadu and currently posted in Bengaluru, married the woman in 2017. A few months after the marriage, his wife gave birth to a daughter. However, he later discovered that she was pregnant before the marriage, and he was not the father of the child. Despite this, she lodged a complaint with Hyderabad women police and Army authorities.
“After the marriage, she did not stay with me for even a month. Instead, she has been harassing me and my elderly parents with false complaints and cases,” the complainant told TOI. As a result of her complaint to the Army authorities, 10% of his monthly pay (approximately 7,500) was deducted to be paid to her, as she claimed to be jobless, he alleged.
He stated that he is willing to take care of his wife, but the fact that he is being forced to pay maintenance for someone else’s child is causing him great distress. “I am serving the nation, but instead of supporting me, she is exploiting all the institutions against me and my family,” he alleged. He added that he has submitted all the evidence related to his complaint to the police and has urged them to conduct a fair probe.
