Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) registered its highest-ever gross originating revenue of Rs 20,452 crore in the financial year 2024-25. This is Rs 117 crore more than the previous best of Rs 20,335 crore in 2023-24.
According to officials, one of the major factors which led to the achievement was due to the major thrust given to the freight segment. The zone achieved its highest-ever originating loading of 144.10 million tonnes and the highest-ever freight revenue of Rs 13,825 crore.
During the financial year 2024-25, around 3,500 special trains were operated, and over 10,000 extra coaches were attached to different express trains to meet the passenger demand.
These initiatives led to the zone achieving Rs 5,710 crore of originating passenger revenue. The zone carried 263.2 million originating passengers during 2024-25 compared to 262.5 million during 2023-24. tnn
