Thunderstorms likely in coastal AP till Apr 12

Visakhapatnam: The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is not likely to intensify further. Yesterday’s low-pressure area over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and lay as a well-marked low-pressure area over southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal on Tuesday with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to middle tropospheric levels.
It is likely to move north-northwestwards during next 24 hours over west-central Bay of Bengal, maintaining the intensity of well-marked low. Thereafter, it is likely to recurve north-northeastwards and weaken gradually over central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 24 hours.
The trough from north madhya Maharashtra to south interior Karnataka now runs from above cyclonic circulation over madhya Maharashtra to south interior Karnataka across north interior Karnataka at 0.9 km above mean sea level. Under the influence of these systems, thunderstorm accompanied with lightening are likely at isolated places over north and south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Gusty winds with speed of 30-40 kmph are likely at isolated places over the same areas. The thunderstorms are likely to continue till April 12, the Indian Meteorological (IMD) said in its report.
The maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal by two to three degrees Celsius over north and south coastal AP and Yanam.
