Traffic Home Guard killed, two constables injured in lorry crash at Hyderabad’s Miyapur

A speeding lorry rammed into a traffic post which resulted in the structure being flung onto three on-duty in Kukatpally on Monday (April 7, 2025) night.

A traffic home guard was killed, and two constables sustained injuries in a road accident near Miyapur metro station on Monday (April 7, 2025) night.

The incident was reported around 10:25 p.m. when a speeding lorry rammed into a traffic post at the Pillar No. 600 while taking a U-turn from Kukatpally road. The crash resulted in the structure being flung onto three on-duty personnel.

Simhachalam, a Home Guard bearing badge number 1093, was critically injured due to the impact. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Constables Rajavardhan (PC 4838) and Vikender (PC 5134), who were also deployed at the location for no-entry duty at 9 p.m., sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

The police arrested the lorry driver identified as 35-year-old Srinivas, a resident of Sadashivapet. The vehicle was returning from Bharat Nagar after unloading rice bags. A case has been booked and investigation is underway.
