Hyderabad: The GHMC has proposed the construction of two flyovers in the Charminar Zone and road widening projects in view significant traffic congestion. An extensive inspection of the areas was done on Wednesday and directives issued for speedy initiation of these projects.
One of the flyovers is proposed at Hafeezbabanagar Junction and the second at Bandlaguda Junction accompanied by a downward ramp at Owaisi Hospital on the left side. GHMC commissioner Amrapali Kata highlighted the need for a smoother flow of vehicles in the area.
Specific instructions were given to the project teams to prepare detailed plans and accurate cost estimates for these projects. The sketch plans for the structures that will be affected by these developments also need to be detailed out.
Officials also inspected work on the flyover from Aramgarh to Zoo Park. Directives were given to the town planning wing to expedite the removal of encroachments.
The road-widening initiatives include development of a 100-feet wide road from the Bengaluru highway to Shastripuram Junction and from there to Enginebowli. Further road widening is proposed from Azeem Hotel to Churchgate. This propsal involves widening of the road to 80 feet. The development of a 60-feet wide road from Chandrayangutta crossroads to Barkas is in the works.
