VIJAYAWADA: Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh has said the tourism sector in Andhra Pradesh is growing fast thanks to its strategic location, strong infrastructure, and government support.

Several key projects, he said, are in the pipeline across various sub-sectors, like hotels, luxury resorts, MICE, amusement and leisure. AP is aiming to become a leading destination for both leisure and business tourism in South Asia.

The minister, accompanied by a team of officials from the state, attended the 20th two-day Hotel Investment Conference – South Asia 2025 (HICSA) in Mumbai on Wednesday. He explored investment opportunities in AP’s hospitality sector in talks with representatives of more than 20 hotels and travel agencies on Wednesday. These companies included Marriott, IHG, IHCL, Accor, Chalet, Imagica World Entertainment Ltd, Hama, BNK Group, Ventive Hospitality, Park Hotels, Lemon Tree, Westin, Blackstone, Hilton, Suba Hotels, The Beach AHS, Ambuja Notiya, SRT Hotels, and Royal Orchid.

Durgesh and his team met key stakeholders in the hospitality sector, industry leaders, hotel investors, developers, operators and other experts from across South Asia.

The tourism minister told them that the tourism sector in the state was developing with support from the central government. He invited these firms to come and set up luxury resorts and hotels in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Amaravati and Rajahmundry.

Andhra Pradesh, he said, is the right platform for investments in tourism and this is the right time to invest. There has been a hike in the subsidies provided by the government. All the subsidies given to industries will be provided to those who invest in the tourism sector.

Tourism secretary Ajay Jain, tourism MD Amrapali Kata, tourism authority investment promotion nodal officer Satya Prabha and others were present from the state’s side.
