A woman, her relative and two youths were arrested by the police in connection with alleged abduction and rape of a 12-year-old girl in Mavala mandal of Adilabad district on Monday (April 7, 2025) night.
Sources said that the woman along with her brother-in-law allegedly abetted the rape of the minor girl, who is her neighbour, by two youths at a secluded place near Mavala on Sunday (April 6, 2025).
The woman took the unsuspecting minor girl, the daughter of a daily wage labourer-couple, to an isolated place on the outskirts of their residential colony in the absence of her parents and called the two youths over phone to the secluded area.
The duo allegedly raped the minor girl at the behest of the woman and her relative, sources added.
Following a complaint from the victim’s mother, the police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA) and the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). All the four accused were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
The ghastly incident sparked outrage among the local residents, who demanded harshest punishment to the accused involved in the heinous offence.
