The Telangana Transport Department issued a government order on Wednesday mandating that vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, be fitted with High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) by September 30, 2025.

The move is in compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders, and as per the guidelines mentioned in the G.O., vehicle owners have been directed to book HSRP fitting for their vehicles on the www.siam.in website. Once on the website, vehicle owners are required to click “book HSRP”, enter owner details, select the vehicle manufacturer after which they will be directed to authorised vendor.

The department said that imitation plates, including those with holograms or ‘IND’ markings that are not officially certified, will not be considered valid and must be replaced.

To avoid last-minute rush or penalties, vehicle owners have been advised to act promptly. Prices for HSRPs have been determined depending on vehicle type, with two-wheelers expected to pay between ₹320 and ₹380, and four-wheelers between ₹590 and ₹700. The State government has instructed dealers and manufacturers to ensure smooth and transparent implementation.

Original Equipment Manufacturers and showrooms will have to prominently display official pricing, and service staff must upload fitment details, including photos, to the HSRP portal. The system will also send real-time SMS updates to the vehicle owner regarding the status of their order and fitment.
