HYDERABAD

President of the Telangana Jagruthi, the cultural wing of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and MLC K. Kavitha has demanded that the State Government make an announcement on April 11 on the installation of a status of Jyotiba Phule, who had worked against caste discrimination and gender bias, on the premises of the Telangana Legislature.

Participating in a hunger protest, along with the leaders of Phule United Front, BRS and Telangana Jagruthi here on Tuesday demanding installation of Phule’s statue on the premises of Assembly, she said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was talking about threat to the State due to Artificial Intelligence (AI). However, it was with the help of AI that the government had carried out a caste census (socio-economic community survey).

Anumula Intelligence

“Telangana is facing a threat not with AI but with Anumula Intelligence. The government had not publicised the survey data so far or tabled in the Assembly as the Congress-led UPA Government did after caste census conducted in 2011. As the BJP had made it clear that it would not go for caste census, it was for the Congress to build pressure on BJP for the nationwide exercise,” she said.

Ms. Kavitha sought to know the status of three Bills passed by the Telangana Legislature for enhancement of BC quota to 42% in education, employment and local bodies as three weeks had passed already. She asked whether the Bills were lying with the Governor’s office or forwarded to the President’s office.

The Chief Minister had promised to lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister after passage of the Bills but instead of keeping the word the former had preferred holding a protest in Delhi, which was supposed to be addressed by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
