Pithapuram Varma or SVSN Varma raised the slogan of Nara Lokesh becoming the future chief of Telugu Desam Party. Varma said it was Lokesh’s Yuva Galam that led to the alliance government formation.
Varma was all praise for the policies and programmes of Lokesh at the TDP praja darbar held in Pithapuram. Varma said that the party was responsible for spelling out the name of the future leader.

To secure the future of the party and to be prepared for fulfilling Vision 2047, the leadership of Lokesh was key, said SVSN Varma.
It is known that Varma lost out on his MLA ticket due to alliance and later lost out on MLC seat. Recently, when MLC Nagababu came to Pithapuram, he was stopped by people shouting slogans for Varma.

While it became a topic for discussion, some analysts say that it was YSRCP cadre that held TDP flags and created trouble.
Varma who has remained a party loyalist hasn’t shown his dissatisfaction publicly. But he is now towing the line of quite a few leaders in TDP who want the baton of leadership to be passed on to Lokesh.
