Clocked 1.5 lakh km on my 7-year-old Mahindra TUV300: Good ride so far

It is a car that is cheap to drive. It consistently gives me a fuel efficiency of over 15 km/l on an annual average basis.

BHPian architect recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

So, in 7 years and 4 months, despite CoVID lockdowns and borders to Delhi being shut for months, despite GRAP making BS-4 diesels unusable for almost 2+ months a year (even longer in 2024-25), we have still crossed the 1,50,000 mark. My projection was 2 lakh km in 10 years but I am beating that number on my own despite all the stoppages to driving I am mentioning above.

One of the reasons I am driving a lot is that it is a car cheap to drive. It consistently gives me over 15 kmpl on an annual average basis (AC + non-AC). Note the range on a full tank of 60L in the second photo!

Despite the maintenance costs, especially since around 90,000 km onwards, (I just bought my second replacement battery today) in 7.5 years and 1,51,000 km, I have spent only Rs 9,90,000/- on purchase including Extended Warranty, Rs 8,18,000/- on fuel and approximately Rs 3,50,000/- on maintenance and insurance renewals bringing the overall cost to about Rs 14/km. This will only reduce as we go further when purchase costs and all the preventive maintenance get adjusted and hopefully, some resale value will kick in too.

The other reason is obviously, the GRAP restrictions that last from mid/late October to mid-January or even later and the 10-year deadline looming large. Let’s see where we go, but it has been a good ride so far. I am happy. Signing off with some photos of the car at work, just like me.
