Reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment against divisive politics, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that they would not allow the BJP at any cost to gain a foothold in Telangana. He also appealed to the people, party workers and followers of the Gandhi family to stand by Rahul Gandhi and ensure the defeat of BJP across the nation.

Addressing the AICC meeting in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spreading Godse’s ideology. “While Modi is spreading Godse’s ideology of hatred, our beloved leader Rahul Gandhi is striving hard to spread Gandhian ideology of peace and love,” he added.

Referring to his government’s efforts to implement poll promises made under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi in Telangana, Mr. Reddy stated that they had already waived off crop loans worth ₹21,000 crore for 25 lakh families within ten months of taking office.

“Rahul Gandhi embarked on Bharat Jodo Yatra covering 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir promising caste census, crop loan waiver, job creation for youth, and women’s welfare. During his padayatra in Telangana, Rahul Gandhi also made the promise of caste census, waiver of farm loans, jobs and women’s welfare,” the CM recalled.

Mr. Reddy also emphasised the need for a caste census across India, noting that Telangana had already fulfilled this commitment. Criticising Mr. Modi’s policies, the Chief Minister said Mr. Modi had introduced “black laws” against farmers. “Modi instigated violence in Manipur and tried to obliterate the right to life of the indigenous people of the country,” he said.

Calling BJP leaders more dangerous than the British, Mr. Revanth Reddy said that the BJP leaders should be driven out. “I promise from this platform, we will defeat the BJP in Telangana,” he said, adding that the Congress party aims to take the country forward in line with Gandhian thoughts.

Reminding that Telangana shares a special bond with Gujarat, Mr. Revanth Reddy said the princely State of Hyderabad was liberated and annexed with India due to Sardar Patel’s efforts under Jawaharlal Nehru’s leadership. “From Vallabhbhai Patel’s land, I say we won’t let the BJP enter Telangana,” Mr. Reddy added.
